David Pearce, COO
David’s contract with WellFound was due to end on the 31st March 2013.
The Trustees unanimously decided that the position of Chief Operating Officer was a position that was not sustainable and one that WellFound could ill afford. The decision has been taken therefore not to renew the contract and David has been given one months paid leave of absence.
David vacated his position at the Greenford office on the 28th February 2013.
I know that you will join us in thanking David for all his hard work and wish him well in the future.
World Water Year
On Wednesday the 23rd of January The IF campaign was launched.
The Campaign, which aims to feed the hungry under the mantra ‘Enough food for everyone ‘, now counts WellFound as one of its supporters. It lobbies Africa to be at the heart of a fair global farming economy which is built through targeting the causes and continuation of poverty.
The four ‘Ifs’ are:
If companies are more transparent.
If we use land for food not fuel.
If we help the poor to feed themselves.
If taxes are paid in poor countries.
David Cameron gave a youtube speech as a call to action for British people. He said: ‘The United Kingdom is leading the fight against global hunger. The generosity of our people and the hard work of our charities have helped millions of families get the food they need.’
He added ‘Things are hard within the UK, but they are infinately harder for the worlds poorest families. Nearly a billion people around the world do not get enough food and under nuitrition holds back the growth and development of children. This is not acceptable in 2013’
We agree Mr Cameron.
